Peperomia 'Schumi Red Ripple'
Peperomia caperata ‘Schumi Red’ (Schumi Red Peperomia)
Schumi Red Peperomia adds a bold burst of color and texture to your home or office. This attractive houseplant boasts a distinct appearance with each leaf exhibiting a rippled, almost corrugated texture in rich reddish-purple to purple-black hues, often deeper on the underside. In bright, indirect light, the foliage may even take on a sparkly, metallic sheen, making it a standout addition to windowsills, desks, or tabletops.
Ideal for container or hanging basket displays indoors—or as a summer patio plant—Schumi Red thrives in bright, indirect light but can also handle low-light conditions commonly found in offices. It prefers a humid environment and neutral to acidic, well-draining soil; be sure to allow the soil to dry out before watering again. With its compact, mound-forming habit and striking coloration, Schumi Red Peperomia offers an eye-catching focal point in any setting.
Peperomia Basic Care: Easy
Water: Allow the soil to dry out almost entirely—up to 5 inches deep—between watering. A watering schedule similar to that of succulents and cacti works well.
Light: It prefers medium to bright indirect light. Direct sunlight should be avoided, as it can cause leaf burn.
Soil/Drainage: Well-draining soil mixes designed for cacti and succulents are ideal, though they can tolerate a standard houseplant mix if they are careful not to overwater.
Temperature/Humidity: Thrives in average room temperature and humidity.
