Tradescantia 'Brightness'

Tradescantia 'Brightness' is a fast-growing, easy-care trailing plant that quickly cascades over pots or planters, making it perfect for relaxed plant parents seeking vibrant, low-maintenance greenery. Its abundant growth and expansive habit mean that occasional pruning—when gaps between the leaves become too large—is both encouraged and rewarding, ensuring the plant stays tidy and full. The plant's vigorous propagation ability means you can easily create new specimens by rooting stem cuttings in water on a sunny windowsill.

Handle with care, as 'Brightness' produces a sticky, mucilaginous sap that can be a mild skin irritant. This distinctive trait has earned Tradescantia the nickname "Saint Lucy’s flower" or flor de Santa Lucía, referencing the patron saint of sight who was said to use the sap as eye drops. Whether you're adding it to a hanging basket or a mixed planter, Tradescantia 'Brightness' brings both beauty and a bit of folklore-inspired charm to your space.

Tradescantias Basic Care: Easy

Water: Allow the top 1 inch of soil to dry between watering. Be mindful not to overwater or let the soil dry out completely.

Light: Thrives in bright to medium indirect light but can adapt to low light conditions if trained.

Soil/Drainage: Tolerates most houseplant soils; a standard indoor houseplant soil will work well.

Temperature/Humidity: Performs well in average room temperature and humidity levels.

Order & Shipping Info:
-Plants ship in a grower's pot, fully rooted.
-We ship every Monday and Tuesday (excluding holidays) to avoid weekend delays.
-Our photos show what you can expect, but each plant is unique and may look slightly different upon arrival.
-Minor damage during shipping is entirely normal and should be expected, especially in extreme summer or winter temperatures. Don’t worry—damaged foliage can be trimmed away and will not affect the plant's root system or overall health.
-Hold off on watering if the soil is still moist, and wait 2-4 weeks before repotting or fertilizing. This patience will help your plant adjust smoothly without going into shock.
